About Pacific Scribes

Pacific Scribes was formed in 1982 by a group of calligraphy teachers to provide an association for letter lovers in Northern California's Santa Clara Valley.

The group is composed of calligraphers at all levels who wish to share and explore their common passion for beautiful hand lettering through workshops, lectures, demonstrations and exhibits. These educational opportunities further our collective knowledge of the history, techniques and applications of the art and craft of calligraphy.

We also try to share with the community at large. Some past activities include volunteering to letter certificates, etc., for non-profit groups and making holiday cards for people in shelters and veterans' hospitals. We also encourage participation in local art shows and exhibits. We are developing a program to help teach calligraphy to school children.
